This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information collected by via the software application named "RemitBy" located at Google Play store, Apple store or any other stores providing for the software application ("mobile app")
1. What is "personal information"?
(a) The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) defines "personal information" as meaning information or an opinion about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable:
(i)whether the information or opinion is true or not; and
(ii)whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.
(b) If the information does not disclose your identity or enable your identity to be ascertained, it will in most cases not be classified as "personal information" and will not be subject to this privacy policy.
2. We respect your privacy
RemitBy ("RemitBy") respects your privacy and adheres to the National Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
3. What information do we collect?
The kind of personal information that we collect from you will depend on how you use the website. The personal information which we collect and hold about you upon registration may include:
- Your personal identifications, including full name, residential address, date of birth, gender, contact details, and occupations;
- Beneficiary information, including full name, address, account number and contact number, your relationship with the beneficiary, and the purpose of your transfer;
- Your payment details and bank details;
- Transaction information;
- Purpose of transfer;
- Source of wealth;
- Proof of Identification, such as Australian Driver's License, passport, government-issued identity documents and other identification documents;
- Documents to show proof of address; and
- We may also call you for verification or additional personal information through phone or email
4. How we collect your personal information
(a)We may collect personal information from you whenever you input such information into the RemitBy mobile app.
(b)We also collect cookies from your computer or other electronic devices which enable us to tell when you use the mobile app and to help customise your experience of the mobile app. As a general rule, however, it is not possible to identify you personally from our use of cookies.
(c)We may also collect data and information disclosed by you through email, text, and phone correspondence or any other means. This includes any information shared through access of our software and through any services provided by us to you.
5. Purpose of collection
(a)The purpose for which we collect personal information is to provide you with the best service experience possible on the mobile app.
(b)We customarily disclose personal information only to our service providers who assist us in operating the mobile app. Your personal information may also be exposed from time to time to maintenance and support personnel acting in the normal course of their duties.
(c)By using our mobile app, you consent to the receipt of direct marketing material. We will only use your personal information for this purpose if we have collected such information direct from you, and if it is material of a type which you would reasonably expect to receive from us. We do not use sensitive personal information in direct marketing activity. Our direct marketing material will include a simple means by which you can request not to receive further communications of this nature.
6. Mobile App Information Collection
When you come to our mobile app, we may collect certain information such as mobile unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, mobile operating system, the type of mobile internet browsers you use, and information about the way you use the mobile app. This information is used in an aggregated manner to analyse how people use our mobile app, such that we can improve our service.
7. Access and correction
Australian Privacy Principle 12 permits you to obtain access to the personal information we hold about you in certain circumstances, and Australian Privacy Principle 13 allows you to correct inaccurate personal information subject to certain exceptions. 8. Complaint procedure
We ensure the proper handling and confidentiality of your personal information but if you have a complaint concerning the manner in which we maintain the privacy of your personal information or concerns regarding a breach of the Privacy Act, please contact us as set out below, including in the complaint the following details:
- Your name and contact details;
- Nature of complaint and any details of steps taken to resolve the complaint;
- Details of conversations you may have had with us that may be relevant to your complaint; and
- Copies of any documentation or evidence that may be relevant to the complaint.
All complaints will be considered in a timely manner, and we may seek further information from you to clarify your concerns. We will endeavour to provide a written response within 30 days upon receipt of the initial complaint. For difficult matters requiring further information or investigation, we will inform you of the reasons for delay and provide a timeline to when the matter can be reasonably decided.
If we agree that your complaint is well-founded, we will, in consultation with you, take appropriate steps to rectify the problem. If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
